Kalinda Ashton is a talented young Australian novelist who will be making a flying visit to London to launch her debut novel The Danger Game. Nominated for the International Impac Dublin Literary Award 2010 and a Sydney Morning Herald Best Young Novelist 2010.
Kalinda will read, answer questions and sign copies of her book.
A dangerous game of "dares" amongst siblings to obliterate the misery of suburban deprivation, schoolyard violence and parents sodden with drink and anger, carries on into the adult lives of two sisters trying to make sense of their past. A story about how the present can be tormented by the past and a reminder that childhood is not always filled with happy memories. "The past was a set of cruel claws that raked through me, slicing into blood and bone and tissue."
Christos Tsiolkas, author of The Slap says - "An unflinching examination of familial and communal bonds. It is masterful, poignant, powerful and true. Ashton's is a remarkable voice, and this is a wonderful novel."
